Everybody around me is getting sick. Our neighbors and the kids at school have chest colds and fevers, stomach bugs and Hand Foot and Mouth. I want NONE of that. Zero. So I'm sitting here with my yummy tea and supporting my immune system so it can fight that gunk off. I made up a cup of caffeine free red tea, added a teaspoon of organic honey and a drop each of Thieves and Lemon Vitality oils. It's like a warm hug in a mug on this chilly afternoon.

Do you know how to tell that it is fall? You might say it is the cool, crisp change in the air or the fact that your husband has pulled out his favorite football tailgate equipment, or maybe even in your state the leaves are starting to change. But nope. It's the fact that everyone has put out their pumpkin pie spice flavored everything! But you know what most of those pumpkin pie spice scented, flavored, fragrant things have in common? Synthetic processed chemicals. Um. No thank you. I prefer to do things more natural and that includes my pumpkin pie spice everything. We use this blend of pure essential oils in everything from our homemade room sprays to our made from scratch pumpkin pie. Do you have diffuser? Then add a few drops of this blend and not only will your house smell like a warm pumpkin pie hug but you are also going to reap the benefits from the essential oils contained in this blend. We also just posted a healthy protein shake recipe here on the blog that you could use a few drops of this blend in place of the Thieves essential oil.

Look for more of my favorite recipes this month that use this inviting, warm blend! Happy Fall y'all! I should call these next gazillion recipes the “101 days of Fall!” I am kidding. There will only be 99 pumpkin spice recipes. Lol. But seriously, I was so super excited to get my Young Living Essentials Rewards order this month because I added Vitality oils I need for a “pumpkin pie spice” blend! But that is a whole other thing we need to talk about!
I wanted to share with you a smoothie recipe I made this week. It was so awesome tasting! As I am typing this recipe, I am wanting it so badly! I may have to take a break and go make one! Even my boys loved this smoothie. Did you know that pumpkin is such a good food choice for you? I didn’t know until I started looking in to it some more and was excited about what I found. Consuming one cup of cooked, canned pumpkin would provide well over 100% of your daily needs for vitamin A, 20% of the daily value for vitamin C, 10% or more for vitamin E, riboflavin, potassium, copper and manganese at least 5% for thiamin, B-6, folate, pantothenic acid, niacin, iron, magnesium, and phosphorus. Not to mention it is packed with the antioxidant beta-carotene. Want to talk about preventative medicine! Look up all the things that are affected by beta-carotene and vitamin A (cancer defense, heart health, delay aging (what?!). It and the avocado or banana are also packed full of fiber and potassium! Good for heart health, fertility and eye sight! Holy cow! The coconut oil is totally optional and while it does add more fat and calories it does have its benefits too. It can give a great boost to your metabolism in the morning which is always a good thing. Know what else it can do? Coconut oil contains so many things that your body benefit from. Here is a short list of somethings I found in my own research that can be supported by consuming coconut oil: metabolism, muscle building, appetite suppressant, promotes heart health, memory function, healthy digestion, balance hormones. So if you don't mind the extra calories you can see that there are a lot of great reasons to include it! The Young Living Pure Protein Complete contains 5 different proteins and a full range of amino acids. Protein is a building block for most of your body so don’t skimp on that! It is also great at making you feel more full longer. Amino acids have multiple benefits for your body besides just being the building blocks of proteins. Amino acids also benefit your immune system and your nervous system! Young Living's Thieves Vitality Essential Oil is the perfect way to add a little bit of the warm, spicy flavor that we all love in pumpkin pie. It is a special blend that contains Clove, Cinnamon, Lemon, Eucalyptus and Rosemary essential oils that help support overall wellness and a healthy immune system. Perfect for this season when we could use some strong immune systems! Okay so go make this like now! See just how easy it is to make by checking out our recipe videos here! PUMPKIN PIE SMOOTHIE INGREDIENTS 3/4 cup pumpkin purée 1/4 of a ripe avocado or 1/2 banana 1/2-1 cup of cashew, coconut or almond milk 1 tsp raw honey or organic maple syrup 1 TBS coconut oil (optional) 1 tsp ground cinnamon or 1 drop of Cinnamon Vitality Essential Oil 1 -2 drops Thieves Vitality Essential Oil (option 1-2 drops "pumpkin pie spice" blend) 1-2 scoops Young Living Pure Protein Complete Vanilla Spice DIRECTIONS Add pumpkin, avocado, milk, oil, cinnamon and honey to blender and mix completely. Use more or less milk to suit your consistency tastes. Stir in essential oil. I add my protein powder at the end because I find if I add it sooner and mix to much it becomes really whipped up and fluffy and I don’t like fluffy smoothies. Pour into glass and enjoy! Pumpkin just screams fall but I am curious what is your favorite fall treat? #cookingwithessentialoils Note: We would never recommend that you take internally any essential oil that is not specified as safe for consumption or ingestion.
